Haines 6th Grade Center Science Curriculum The science program at our school is an inquiry-based program that promotes student discovery. The students are prompted to consider their background knowledge to help them investigate topics in science. The topics include: o The Monarch Butterfly - Life Cycles and Migration o The Metric System o The Scientific Method o Organisms Macro and Micro o Earth in Space o Our Ecosystem – The Pinelands Students record information and labs in their Interactive Science Journals. They also use the journals as a way to reflect on their new knowledge and express relationships within the information. Technology is integrated into the class with microscopes, microscope cameras, LCD projector, wireless laptops and astronomy software. |
